The ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems Standard; and the ISO 9004 Guidance Documents are currently in the revision process. ISO 9001 is expected to be re-issued in October 2008 and ISO 9004 in summer - 2009. Copies of the ISO/CD 9001 are available for review and comment on the American Society for Quality (ASQ) website free-of-charge.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is the world’s largest developer of voluntary international standards for business, government and society. Of these, the most well known standards are ISO 9001:2000 (Quality Management Systems Standard) and ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management Systems Standard). ISO is frequently asked for information on the number of certificates that have been issued world-wide. As a result, it is in its 13th year of performing ‘The ISO Survey’. Basic results of the latest ISO Survey – 2005 are available as a public service on thier website.
